Vicar-elect Visits Holy Cross
We had the good fortune of having The Rev. Laura Deaderick with us last week for a brief visit. She and Fr. Ted had a couple of conferences, and attended the Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club. The Senior Warden and the First Lady hosted a luncheon in their lovely home on Tuesday. The Vicar-elect departed San Diego at 3:45pm on Tuesday afternoon to return to Berkeley where she is a Teaching Assistant and is completing her dissertation.
The Reverend Laura Deaderick provided the Calling Committee with her resumé and other background . More pictures of Laura and her financé from her web site are also available in our Picture Gallery.

Social Justice
Social Justice Involvement
One of the many ways in which Holy Cross has distinguished itself has been in its commitment to social justice ministries. As a parish, Holy Cross has many of these initiatives underway. But many in our congregation are involved in additional social justice ministries outside the Holy Cross banner. We'd like to hear about these so we can all acknowledge and celebrate the collective efforts of our parish community. Please let our Vestry know of your social justice ministries.
We Care Bags - Meals on Wheels
Mary Lou delivered another 20 bags during the first week of February. Please keep bringing in those needed items.
Wounded Warrors
Our two visits in February featured lengthy discussions with the chaplain of the battalion, Dan Verner, and with Chief Siebert, head of the battalion's medical team. About a dozen Marines stopped by on each of our visits and enjoyed the festive array of healthy fruit and yogurt snacks. Joining Arlene Cull and Tom Mauro on our February 17th visit were Judith Hansen and Alice Wait. In a related activity, Fr Ted, Larry and Betty Kucera, Arlene Cull, Tom and Joyce Mauro attended and supported the annual Warrior Foundation fund raiser at El Camino Country Club on February 22nd. The March schedule not completely firmed up yet. We either will be delivering fresh fruit to the battalion on Thursday, March 11th or will be helping out that day at the San Luis Rey Downs Country Club where a golf tournament benefitting the Wounded Warrior Battalion will take place. Please contact Tom mauro for details.
